God of this City
You’re the God of this City
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
You’re the Light in this darkness
You’re the Hope to the hopeless
You’re the Peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
There is no one like our god
There is no one like our God
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:30)
- Telephone Poles and Other Poems, John Updike.
I guess everyone knows and remembers the Lord for what he has done for us. Although I know that Good Friday was yesterday, i just thought that I share something rather interesting that I have never thought or heard of from the message.
As we all know, Christ died for us… But I found out that…
Wow! This is powerful.
THIS IS SO AMAZING YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS!!!!!!!!!
You stood before creation
Eternity in your hand
You spoke the earth into motion
My soul now to stand
You stood before my failure
And carried the cross for my shame
My sin weighed upon your shoulders
My soul now to stand
So what could I say?
And what could I do?
But offer this heart, Oh God
Completely to you
So I'll walk upon salvation
Your spirit alive in me
This life to declare your promise
My soul now to stand
So what could I say?
And what could I do?
But offer this heart, Oh God
Completely to you
I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the one who gave it all
I'll stand
My soul Lord to you surrendered
All I am is yours
The first time I heard this song I cried while I sang it and I really just stood there and felt God's presence washing over me. Even today I a still cry because I feel so so honoured to stand in the presence of the El-Shaddai. It's amazing to know that He is there for you always and you can dwell in Him at all time. Just because Christ died for us, we can now stand before Him and commune with our Father.
The past week has been a holiday for me and for many of us students in Singapore. In this week I have found rest in the Lord and He has kept me going. I admit that the first few days were really slow work wise, however in those times, I have had the time to reflect and ponder of my relationship with Christ.
The has passed very fast and there is endless work as most people know, whatever age we may be. But in the first few days I have realised a few things:
1) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NET)
2) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1 WEB)
3) And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. (1 Corinthians 12:26 KJV)
The first is simply due to the rest we need when we are tired is just next to us - the Lord Jesus Christ our Rock and Refuge.
The second is regarding the personal relationship that we have with God. It must be so close, so much so that we feel Him and that we can dwell in the “secret place” with Him and He with us.
The third is regarding the trials and tribulations we go through. We always face problems, big or small, but we must understand in the church and in the body, no one suffers alone. This is also in meditation and pray of those in Japan and all those who have suffered because of the calamity. We are all children of God and everyone deserves our pray. Remember that the word sympathy in Greek has the same meaning as empathy. So do not just think it, but rather feel it.
